Ashes to Ashes, Dust to...Penelope

We are almost done with the bulk of our filming, only one shot is left to complete! My acting career has started to develop...into amazingness! Actually not really I'm not that great but our film is about symbolism! Not all that stupid acting crap!...Just kidding the acting is actually pretty important....we'll just do what all those big action movies do....special effects out that wazoo. Nobody will notice that our actresses are sub par.
So anyways now that you know how our filming is going let's talk business, or at least the actual shooting of the movie part. So we went to the beach last week to shoot that scene where Megan a.k.a. Friend #1...Actually I don't even think we named Megan...WAIT...I think her name was Sarah...actually no, that was someone else's movie....I guess we'll just refer to her as Friend #1...So where Friend #1 spreads Penelope's ashes after she dies. This was probably the most awkward scene to shoot ever. Megan put ashes from her dad's grill in a bag and these "ashes" were supposed to be Penelope. So we take this plastic bag out full of ashes and charcoal as all of these hot surfer guys walk by...They probably thought we were freaks...If I had walked by just then I would have thought we were freaks. I mean here's three girls in rolled up jeans and makeup laughing as they take out this bag of "ashes" and try to pour it into a fake urn. I think the most awkward part about the whole thing was it was so difficult to remove the big pieces of charcoal. So Megan/Friend #1 would try to throw Penelope into the wind and then a big chunk of Charcoal/Penelope would come flying out...Penelope was very chunky, even after she died.
Another thing, THE OCEAN WAS FREEZING COLD, but it was okay because after like five minutes my legs went numb and I couldn't feel the cold anyways. But even through the wind and the sand and the ashes we got it done. And then we went to Angie's afterwards, supa delish. Seriously though, it was so freaking awkward when people would walk by...so freaking awkward.

A Movie Star is Born...Except Kind of Not Really

Yesterday was our first real day of filming! We actually got something done, I do believe hell finally froze over, the Apocalypse has finally happened...well it's sort of obvious that I'm exaggerating since I'm writing this now and hopefully you're reading it so never mind what I just said. Just to reiterate...we actually filmed...people. It was great

Anyways since our first day of filming we have actually filmed a second day as well and I might actually be getting the hang of this whole acting thing, who knows maybe I'm the next Melissa McCarthy or, Rebel Wilson hahahaha if I could be them that would be totally amazing but, probably not gonna happen.

So along with filming we also planned the ending for our film, I would totally tell you what's gonna happen but, then what would be the point of this film? I know in previous posts I told you what was going to happen but I feel like I shouldn't ruin it this time and don't even think about reading those old posts because we changed the plot so much it would just be a waste of your time! Mwahahahaha...so yeah I'm really bored and I can't think of anything else to write, LQ signing off...

HOLY POOP...We Started Our Movie (Well Kind of...Not Really)

So here I am again and I think this is my longest title yet, ladies and gentlemen for your viewing pleasure I give you, "Life Unexpected"...Oh wait, we haven't finished it yet...Ooops. So we finished out script and sort of kind of made a production schedule that we haven't started yet but our completed film is actually due in December, so I guess we still have a month to do it, we only have everything to do...NBD. So yeah obviously I'm sort of stressing about the fact that we haven't gotten anything done but will get it done eventually...or at the last possible second...#IBlife.

Well there's basically nothing to talk about with our film so I'll just talk about when I helped my friend Emaleigh and Mara with their film...Something totally amazing happened...I WAS AN EXTRA! Yeah I know absolutely amazeballz but, anyways their film is actually pretty interesting. They have this girl who hangs with her friend they get in a car accident the girl forgets, now her other friend is talking about hanging out and the girl is all like "As long as I can bring Sarah" but, oh wait SARAH'S DEAD! There's the clincher everybody! So the girl forgot that Sarah died and then wherever she goes she sees her around watching her and eventually the ghost of Sarah convinces the girl to jump off this building so they can be together (platonically of course, no lesbianis experiences here...although there was an awkward moment when I totally thought they were supposed to be girlfriends because the girl called the friend sexy....let's just say I was rebuked rather quickly when I tried to bring it up) but anyways so yeah the dead ghost friend convinces the girl to jump off a building so they can be together in the "afterlife"...or heaven, totally open to interpretation guys. So yeah super exciting day of my life!

Now this project is totally coming in hand, I ended up telling my parents I was going to do film stuff this weekend when in fact I was going to hang out with my friends...This could totally work to my advantage :D Yes, I am a horrible child but at least I'm a horrible child with no drinking or, drug problems...and I am not pregnant, so whenever I start to feel guilty for lying all the time I just think of how lucky my parents are that I am a normal, almost 18 year old who will be going to college in the fall. They totally could have gotten unlucky and had some druggie daughter, she would be like the reincarnation of Courtney Love but like 17 I think if I were a druggie my name would be Amy...So yeah good thing my mom and dad never had "Amy" they are lucky they got Leah...even though she lies all the time and is really lazy...This totally has nothing to do with our film so I'm just gonna stop typing now...BYE GUYS...BE SAFE...DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE...Leah Q. signing off...Until next time...

Oh Dear, We're in a Shizload of Trouble

So this is the newest update on our film, "Life Unexpected"...I swear that name sounds like a sitcom from the 90's, maybe it was? I don't know I'll look it up later though but anyways I haven't written in forever....So update, we finished our script, finally! Bad news it was like three weeks late but luckily the three people in our group finally finished it so my 36% went all the way to a 93%...Yay!

Basically our script is about a girl named Penelope, she has a terminal illness...Yes I know this sounds super familiar like some soap opera that you've seen...Oh wait! It sounds like that one film with Queen Latifah! I think it's called "Last Holiday" but that's totally different from ours. But anyways so Penelope doesn't see a point in life anymore and goes to the park and meets a guy (totally platonic of course!) and he basically helps her to not act like an emotionless robot. Before meeting him she was kind of like that one guy in that Albert Camus book, what was it ummm, oh his name was Meursault! But yeah Meursault was totally indifferent to everything he pretty much had no emotion except when it came to like sex, or going to work but, the dudes mother died and he only cared about how hot it was and if the coffee was good. The point of that little tidbit of information was Penelope had no emotions and now thanks to the bubbly personality of this new character she does! So then she goes to the beach and lays down on the sand and dies.

Yes I know this sounds sort of random but keep in mind the film is only 5-6 minutes long and we're totally gonna shoot it way more dramatic then that. We'll do a closeup on her face and then the closes her eyes and a sheet is pulled over her face and in the beginning of the film she will start with a sheet over her head and then throw it off, so yeah cool technique! We're trying to make the whole sheet thing like one of those crime shows. The whole point of this scene is her acceptance of death. This is us trying to be all metaphorical and deep and I feel like were sort of achieving that. Our film is so depressing because it's way easier to portray sadness then something amazingly comedic, like "Mean Girls" and I'm all about easy!

So this film seems like it's starting to form itself...wait until we actually film it, that's gonna be Amazeballz:D

We About to Get This Party Started...Maybe?

So hello again my lovely readers, I'm sure these blog posts are a source of great joy for you, as they are for me...moi,  trying to sound like a sophisticated blog writer is exhausting, I'll just go back to my high  school lingo, so like anyways....I finally have real reporting to do on our film, the script is in production. Well actually it's in the process of being written by moi, I guess I can put in some French here in there to make this blog post sound more legit, but yeah it's actually being written so that's a definite plus!
I have decided our main character is named...wait for it....drumroll....Penelope, yes I know it is an absolutely amazing name, partly sophisticated (I really like saying that word today) yet innocent. She is a cancer patient who has been pretty much sentenced to death. We're basically trying to focus on the way people interpret death, some act as if it isn't going to happen this character is represented by her mother, some don't want to face it, and some are just annoyingly depressed all the time, this would be Penelope. In the first scene she will be like a doll emotionless and sickly just sitting there while her mother bustles around her nagging, and waiting on her hand and foot.
So that's the beginning I don't know what's gonna happen in the middle yet, but all I know is she's going to end on the beach with her acceptance of her death and the short future she has ahead of her.
That's all folks, see ya next time on the next episode of the "Young and the Filmless".

Oh Wait...So He's a Girl Now?

So here I am, back for another round of complaining about film but really who's gonna read this blog anyways so I guess it doesn't really matter if I sound annoying. But for those of you who may have read this blog before you know the gist of what my posts tend to be about. I talk about the films we've watched, the assignments that are due, the assignments I normally don't complete....So yeah...
But back to this post so this week in film we watched a 90's British film called Orlando and I have to say it was actually sort of interesting but, it was also super weird at the same time it's about this British dude named Orlando and the movie basically takes you through his/her life...yeah I did say his/her...because basically halfway through the movie you come to this one scene where Orlando wakes up with boobs and a vagina.....So to say that was awkward is certainly an understatement it was definitely a "WTF" moment for the books.
After we watched this movie we started working on the film that we're supposed to produce by the end of the year and let me tell PP step #3 is going to be a huge pain in the ass. Were actually gonna have to prepare for it, instead of starting the day before like we normally do. When I read those directions my first reaction was "Poop"....Yes I did say poop because seriously, how else can you describe a poop sandwich like that?
It seems like this year that's all film has been, one poop sandwich after the other....Countdown to Winter Break commencing now.

Continuity is Important

So here I am at blog post number three, I guess it's good that I'm keeping up with this blog, sometimes I feel like I use this thing to vent about film rather then write about it. But anyways so this week...what have we done this week.
Well we're still not very close to starting our film but we did complete PP step number 2, which was basically further planning for our film. Apparently we decided to do something nostalgic and depressing complete with flashbacks and a homage to 400 Blows in the closing scene, yay for being creative!
Haha anyways, so yeah we did that yesterday and then we did more research for our Independent Studies, mine evolved from women prostitution to strong female centric films from Greece and Sweden...By the way Sweden has no shame, I mean seriously like every film I looked for from that place was practically soft porn I ended up having to change my ideas like three times when Dr.Adams said they were innapropriate. Although I can't say that he was completely wrong, I legit saw like four sets of nipples yesterday...Super awkward to say the least.

My Life is Over Part Dos

So this is our blog's second post, I guess I should update you on the progress we've made on our film....Funny joke considering we haven't done anything, we still don't really even know what we're doing but as the writer I feel that I should also keep up with the writing on the blog as well as the script (when we actually get down to writing it).
So here's me keeping you posted, first of all we watched some weird ass film called Uncle Boonme something something, I don't really remember the entire title because I really didn't have any interest  in the movie although, that's partly because I missed the first hour of it but, whatever it was still boring. After watching this film I have a new appreciation for Tree of Life, at least it had a good soundtrack and no subtitles.
Oh wait, let me to tell you about last night, so in Film this year we actually have to do work i.e. doing this blog, making a film etc. Well a part of this whole work thing is we have to do notes that are made up of 60 terms that you have to define, as well as cite your source and say the significance of your term. So after splitting this up with Gabe and Tina I came to the conclusion that I want to kill myself and Gabe because he didn't read the damn directions so I had to copy and paste his definitions separately because he didn't put it in the template that was given and then he didn't even write a significance. So then I had no time to do the quiz that close at 11:59 last night. So thanks a lot Gabe...I hate you.

The Beginning of the End

This year is my senior year and this blog is a part of our senior film group project. Four girls, two cameras, one idea and at this point we don't even have an idea. This blog is supposed to document our progress throughout the year on the most important film of our high school careers. Hopefully we'll accomplish something but at this point it's not looking so great. TBC
